Compassion International 

 

 

The C2C (Church to Church) program partners U.S. congregations with churches in the world’s poorest communities. Launched at the Willow Creek Association’s 2009 Leadership Summit, the goal of this partnership is to bridge the divide between wealthier churches in the U.S. that are passionate about serving the poor and churches in the poorest communities around the world.

Today, those living in extreme poverty account for almost one fifth of the world’s population, or 1.1 billion people. This staggering number of people includes nearly 600 million children whose families earn less than $1 per day.

Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Recognizing that poverty is more than a lack of money, Compassion works holistically through local churches to address the individual physical, economic, educational and spiritual needs of children – enabling them to thrive, not just survive.

HOPE’s C2C partner, our Sister Church, is “Fiche Evangelical Church” Mekane Yesus Congregation in Fiche, Ethiopia. HOPE’s intention is to have a long-term relationship with Fiche where we can both learn from one another and grow the Kingdom of God together.

Covenant Kids Congo

HOPE is committed to help change the lives of children around the world. We recently hosted Hope Sunday, November 4, presented by Karen Hallberg, of Covenant World Missions, because that’s what we want to share—the hope of Christ. Covenant Kids Congo is the first ever child sponsoring partnership between World Vision and an entire denomination, ours…the Evangelical Covenant Church.
