Expansion & Renovation of our facility

Since our founding in 1979, God has consistently stretched and moved us to facilities that will serve as a tool for ministry. Today, we are in the midst of another faith-step of expansion. With the purchase of the Grand Cities Mall property, we have facility that can be renovated and land on which to expand. HOPE has been on a consistent and steady growth path for the last 24 years and we anticipate that God’s will continue to trust us with growth.

We believe the reimagine campaign will “prepare the ground” for the next generations of those who will come behind us and continue the mission and vision of reaching others with the hope and love of Jesus.

Our Facility Dream Teams will look at our current needs, our near future needs, and our God-sized dreams. The 27 acres, to which God has led us, gives us an unprecedented opportunity to re-shape our community for years to come.

On an average Sunday 50% of the people in the Greater Grand Forks area are not in a local church. We believe this is unacceptable. Especially if that means that those people do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. HOPE has been blessed to have a consistent flow of guests and visitors with many of them coming to faith in Jesus. As has been consistent with our past, we believe that our facility is a tool to help us achieve the mission God has called us to pursue. As a part of Reimagine HOPE we intend to address several facility needs.

Worship Center

  • Currently our “main” worship center seats approximately 850 people and our regular attendance fluctuates between 950-1,200.
  • We have three worship services each Sunday. Our 9:00 and 10:30 is where our attendance is concentrated.
  • In our 10:30 worship service we consistently push against that 80% attendance guideline.
  • Imagine a worship center that would have seating for 1,200 to 1,400.
  • How many people could you reasonably expect to reach with expanded seating?

Kitchen and Fellowship Spaces

  • HOPE has been functioning in a “post-flood” kitchen that has served to “get us by” funerals, weddings and other events.
  • This kitchen serves our HOPEful Beginnings Ministry on a daily basis, our coffee ministry, and all our church needs (funerals, etc.).
  • A fully equipped kitchen that is able to serve our congregation. This is viewed as a necessity for many in our congregation.
  • Imagine kitchen facilities and a fellowship/banquet hall equipped with banquet style tables and chairs that could host wedding receptions, large fellowship events, and be available to our community.
  • Our Connection Center is currently able to seat just over 200 people at tables. This is suitable for some of our events but does not adequately meet the needs of our congregation.

Reimagine with us an equipped kitchen and fellowship space that would serve as a tool for the HOPE family at those times when we need to gather for celebrations and events.

Reimagine with us the opportunity we have to become more and more a place that serves the community through our facility. HOPE has several meeting spaces that are rented by community organizations. We would like to expand that by offering banquet and kitchen facilities to enhance their gatherings.

Adult education and training spaces

  • HOPE has very intentionally, with our limited space and funds, prioritized our children and youth.
  • Currently HOPE has 4 adult classroom spaces that were constructed in 2008 as temporary rooms. They are “at best” adequate spaces for equipping and training.
  • We are planning for classroom spaces for various sized groups. We firmly believe it is time to address the equipping and discipling needs of our adults.
  • Imagine classrooms designed for interaction and learning that would serve groups from 10 to 75.

Reimagine with us an adult equipping and training center that would serve the various needs of our adult disciples. Jesus commanded his people to “go and make disciples.” We desire to step up to that call and prepare God’s people for works of service and maturity.

Have you noticed the renovations that have already begun since we purchased the Grand Cities Mall?

Staff Offices

We have six new pastoral and ministry staff studies, three work stations, and a conference room. We still need additional offices but these renovated offices are serving our team in great ways. We will still have a significant need for additional ministry staff and administrative staff studies/offices.

The Commons

Just outside of the Worship Center we have a new space for fellowship and gathering of the HOPE community and the mall community.

Our architect and building teams will be working to prepare our church facilities to address our current needs as well as short-term and long-term needs.

The reality that God led us to the Grand Cities Mall property in 1996 and recently to purchase it is a demonstration of His guidance and vision for us. We prayerfully will rise to the challenge!
