DSCPLE is a summer discipleship and leadership program for high school students, designed to help students become more fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ that know their purpose and potential in Christ and the Church. The summer includes intentional time with HOPE staff, Bible teaching, leadership training, hands-on service, a week at Bluewater Bible Camp, and a HOPEyouth high school trip to Yellowstone National Park (registration fees covered as part of DSCPLE). At the end of the program, students put everything they’ve learned to practical use in the planning and execution of the HOPEkidz Family Event!

Vision

By the end of the program, it is our goal that students will:

  • Have grown closer to Jesus and become more of a disciple of Him

  • KNOW that they are a leader and that they have influence and are capable of leading

  • Be able to articulate their testimony and share the Gospel

  • Have had a taste of vocational ministry and all of the “behind-the-scenes”

  • Feel connection, value, and belonging

  • Have grown in character

  • Know they can do hard things

  • Have experienced working together in a team and see the greater things that come from using our individual gifts together

  • Have a plan for applying what they have learned about leadership and themselves in their life moving forward

FAQs

I graduate in the Spring. Can I apply?
Absolutely! DSCPLE is for high school students entering 9th grade through recent grads. It is a great way to prepare for your freshman year of college.

I have a family vacation/sports tournament/etc during that time - can I miss days?
We ask that you not miss more than 4 days of DSCPLE, and those 4 days must be approved before the start of the program. Have questions on this? Contact Kaci at kzahradka@gfhope.org!

I don’t really like working with little kids - this probably isn’t for me?
While part of DSCPLE is serving at Kidz Camp and leading the Family Event, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to work directly with kids. Kidz Camp has many areas to serve (including music, tech, food, games, etc) and DSCPLE’s involvement with the Family Event will primarily be on the front end, planning the event and coordinating the logistics.

How much does it cost?
Nothing! Generous donors have covered the cost of the program so there is no cost to you to participate.

Do I get paid?
No, this is not a paid internship. However, the DSCPLE program includes a week at Bluewater camp plus other perks throughout the summer!

Why should I do this?
DSCPLE is an investment in yourself. The summer will be a time of intense spiritual and personal growth.

Can I do DSCPLE and work a summer job?
Yes! The DSCPLE schedule is designed to allow you enough time to also work a job or do summer school.

I don’t plan on going into ministry. Is this for me?
Absolutely! DSCPLE is for anyone - not just someone that is going into ministry. We all have room to grow in discipleship and leadership.
